At Rock Brook, everything we believe is based on the truth that Jesus is Lord. Over 600 times in the New Testament Jesus is referred to as “Lord.” It is a word that means "master, ruler, sovereign, king, in-control.
Christ Jesus left His exalted position in Heaven, became a man, and died on the cross to save us — while we were still sinners. (John 1:1-3; John 8:58; John 10:30; John 14:9; Colossians 1:15-16)
In saying, “Jesus is Lord,” we demonstrate an understanding that Jesus is God and has supreme authority over all things… including our lives. We submit ourselves to His authority, and commit ourselves to obey Him. Someday, everyone will submit to the truth that Jesus is Lord.
“God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV)
Why did Jesus do this? He died on the cross to demonstrate God’s love and to pay for my sins. God knew from the beginning that His creation would need a Savior, so He set in motion all that would be necessary to accomplish the salvation of His children.
(Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24)
To call Jesus “Lord” means that I…
Admit: I am a sinner who needs a savior
Believe: Jesus is who he says he is
Choose: To trust and follow Him
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
Understanding Salvation:
Jesus lived the life I could not live.
Jesus died in my place.
Jesus made me right with God.
Jesus made peace with God possible.
Jesus made me a part of God’s family
Jesus purchased my salvation with His blood.
Jesus satisfied God’s justice.
Jesus sent my sins away from me.
Three aspects of Salvation:
In the past, I was saved from the penalty of sin.
In the present, I am being saved from the power of sin.
In the future, I will be saved from the presence of sin.
Simply put, salvation comes down to this question,
Are you a whoever?
For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
So, have you believed in Jesus Christ, and made Him Lord of your life to receive the promise of eternal life?
Prayer of Salvation:
Dear God:
Thank you for making me and loving me. I admit that I have sinned and that my sin separates me from You. Thank you for making a way for me to be saved. I believe Jesus is Lord. He is who He says He is and the only way to be saved. He lived a sinless life, the life I could never live. He died on the cross in my place to save me from my sins. He rose from the dead giving new life to all who believe in him. I’m choosing to trust and follow Him. I want to be a whoever so I can know you and live for you.
In Jesus name, Amen

Declarations
Family
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15-25; 3:1-20; Exodus 20:12
Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15-25; 3:1-20; Exodus 20:12
Marriage
We believe marriage is defined in the Bible as a covenant, a sacred bond between one man and one woman, instituted by and publicly entered into before God. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church, and to provide for the man and woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, channel of sexual expression, according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6
Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. The same worth and dignity attaches to each human being, from pre-born babies, to the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore commanded by God and His Word to defend, protect and value all human life.
Our conscience commands that we not be complicit in providing, promoting, paying for or passing off to others a responsibility by government to pay for abortion for those under our employ or in our care.

Religious Liberty
God alone is Lord of the conscience, and He has left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men which are contrary to His Word or not contained in it. Church and state should be separate. The state owes to every church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. The gospel of Christ contemplates spiritual means alone for the pursuit of its ends. The state has no right to impose penalties for religious opinions of any kind. The state has no right to impose taxes for the support of any form of religion. A free church in a free state preserves the right of free and unhindered access to God on the part of all men, and the right to form and propagate opinions in the sphere of religion without interference by the civil power.
